It Feels So Good When It Stops
We sometimes feel the Lord has forgotten about us. Perhaps we tend to think that He is putting the spotlight on our lives more than others. He is signaling us out more than we would like. He tightens our screws extra tight. It feels as though our head will explode if He doesn’t ease up on us.
A man is banging his head against the wall. Another asked, “Why are you banging your head against the wall”. The banger says, “because it feels so good when I stop”.
There are easier ways to get through the trials God allows in our lives.
We all know the story of Joseph but just to recap. Joseph was somewhat spoiled and foolish in his relationship toward his brothers. He has a dream and tells them about it, “I will rule over you”, he says. Not today they say, so they sell Joseph into slavery.
Joseph was sold again in Egypt. His owner put Joseph in charge of his household. The households’ wife was nasty and lied to her husband about Joseph.
“Throw the bum in jail” says the ruler of the house. The years pass, forgotten by all? Then Joseph stands before the Pharaoh interpreting a troubling dream the king of Egypt had. Number one likes what he hears, makes Joseph his number two and is now is made ruler over all Egypt.
The Pharaoh gives Joseph a wife, the daughter of a priest.
Wife gives Joseph two sons.
He puts some thought into naming his sons, the first he named Manasseh, “for God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.” His second son, Ephraim: “For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”Gen 41:50-52
“Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you..”, just remember the story of Joseph.
